LunAres Analog Astronaut Mission
My LunAres Analog Mission was a collaboration with Embry-riddle Aeronautical University, and is a research method focused on investigating one or several aspects of crewed space missions using earthly real-life situations as an analogue to an off-world scenario. In this experience my role team Commander, my team and I lived in isolation in a mock Lunar and Martian surface HAB for 2 weeks w/ limited food and water. During our time there my team underwent and carried out multiple research project and task. My team’s research projects were:
EVA suit: testing: comparing old Cosmonaut suits to new potential spaceflight suits on Lunar and Martian surfaces
Pressure suit testing: comparing old NASA and Cosmonaut pressure suits to new potential commercial spaceflight pressure suits
Mock Rover: Building and coding a usable mock rover and testing it on mock Lunar and Martian surfaces in various retreival missions
Food sustainability: testing practices for plant growth through vertical farming
Spirulina Growth: Testing the possibility of spirulina as a food source and it’s durability potential for spirulina growth in numerous extreme conditions
Astronaut Health in a confined area: monitoring the mental and physical health effects of my team as we progressed in the mock HAB with no access to natural sunlight
